The Bristol Biplane Type 'T' was a derivative of the British Bristol Boxkite, developed by the British and Colonial Aeroplane Company, for the Frenchman Maurice Tabuteau.

History

The Type 'T' was a development of Bristol's successful Boxkite type. As well as a more powerful Gnome engine it had an enclosed nacelle for the pilot and a skip projecting forward from the main landing gear, to prevent nosing over.

The type was developed for M Tabuteau to compete in the 1911 Circuit de l'Europe. In addition four further examples were built for the Circuit of Britain race, of the same year. None of the Type 'T's which competed were successful.

Variants

* Type T : Two-seat sporting biplane.
* Challenger-England : Bristol Type T biplane fitted with a 60-hp (45-kW) ENV piston engine.
