St. Edmund Campion Catholic Secondary School opened its doors to 250 Grade 9 students on September 2, 2003 at the Streetsville Campus which was its temporary home for two years while the school was being built on Brisdale Drive.

The Streetsville Campus was shared by the Grade 9 class of St. Marcellinus Secondary and all grades of John Cabot Secondary School. The school sweater, a rainbow of blue, red, and green, was the only way to distinguish who belonged to each school. During that first year, Marcellinus and Campion also shared a few teachers in the Visual Arts and Music classes as well as office space. However each school had its own distinct identity and character. Campion’s traditions were molded by an all school two day overnight retreat that took place at the Onandaga Farms Camp in St. George at the end of September. Students and staff had the opportunity to meet new friends, develop a school identity, pray, worship and enjoy outdoor activities. The theme of the retreat, "Named, Called, Chosen," was the adopted school slogan.

The three schools came together to host a turkey dinner for refugees new to Canada at the Streetsville Campus in December. Approximately 80 refugees from the Mavis Road Family Shelter, Peel Region Newcomers Drop In Centre, and the Salvation Army Coalition for Canadian Refugees attended a turkey feast that was prepared, served, and hosted by staff and students and entertained by the Schools’ Choir. At March Break, the school bid adieu to John Cabot as they returned to their newly renovated building on Willowbank Rd. and in June the school said goodbye to St Marcellinus as they moved into their brand new building on Courtney Park Dr. At the end of the first school year, students and staff packed up the furniture, supplies and textbooks to move to the back of the building for the second year in Streetsville.

Year 2 at Streetsville welcomed a new Grade 9 class to join the Grade 10s and several new teachers expanding the student body, staff complement, and curriculum with many new programs. The school shared its campus with an elementary school, Metropolitan Andrei, whose building was undergoing renovations.

As a new school, the Bears celebrated many firsts with a Terry Fox Walk, ROPSAA Championships in basketball, cross country, and soccer, academic awards, band concerts, Quebec Carnival, and the Grade 10 literacy test. The building of the new facility broke ground on Brisdale.

The third year as a school community began with the move into the new building in Brampton. The student population doubled to 1300 students in Grades 9, 10 and 11 with 85 teaching staff. Students were treated to new and expanded programs in Construction and Automotive Technology, Cosmetology, and Dramatic Arts in a Theatre with a stage and sound booth. The Career Path Program provides opportunities for students to participate in work experience programs. Gym facilities and playing fields allows the Bears to play at home and host games. The library expanded its collection with a huge donation of books from the Charlie Lewis estate. The Canadian World Studies Department embarked on a trip to Europe to visit the battlegrounds of Normandy. The Campion students participated in their first musical, Guys and Dolls, rehearsing for months learning their lines, songs and dance routines to perform four evening performances after the Easter Holiday.

In September 2006, the school welcomed more grade 9s, teachers, and staff; over 1900 students in attendance for the first year as a four year secondary school. The first grade 9 class that walked into Streetsville on September 3, 2003 will be stepping out of the Brisdale campus in June as the first Grade 12 Graduating Class of 2001
