"Under One Roof" follows the lives of three generations of an upper middle class
African American family sharing ahouse inSeattle, Washington . Thepatriarch of the family, Nesbit "Neb" Langston (James Earl Jones ), is a recently retired and widowedpolice officer who has adopted a troubled 16-year-old foster child, Marcus (Merlin Santana ). Neb's adult son, Ron, is an ex-Marine who is attempting to deal with the stress of opening his own business. Meanwhile, Ron's wife Maggie (Vanessa Bell Calloway ) is having reservations about re-entering the work world after being a stay-at-home mom for the couple's two children, son Derrick (Ronald Joshua Scott ), a ten-year-old diabetic, and daughter Charlie (Essence Atkins ), their 15-year-old daughter, for twenty years. Neb's other child, Ayesha (Monique Ridge ), also lives with the family.The series, which was a
