*Used as a term between political/world event enthusiasts as a way of defining someone who has become truly educated and aware of current and past political/world events, why they are taking place, and what goes on behind the scenes."I was truly awakened in 2004 by a series of documentaries and self study about politics, current, and past world history."The opposite term would be "asleep", in this context meaning, "ignorant".

*Awakened is an episode of the second season of "Charmed"

*Mages in the role-playing games and are sometimes referred to as Awakened (those who cannot use magic are typically referred to as Sleepers).

*In Claymore (manga) and anime, Awakened are a type of monsters and main enemies of the series.

*In the Awakened are cyborgs under the command of the Brotherhood of Nod, apparently they are the most updated version of Nod's cybernetic soldiers and are equipped with EMP and laser weapons.
