James M. Bell (born: July 1, 1845 County Antrim, Ireland and died July 1, 1901) was a United States Army soldier awarded the Medal of Honor during the Indian Wars. Private Bell is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois

Rank and organization: Private, Company E, 7th U.S. Infantry. Place and date: At Big Horn, Mont., July 9, 1875. Entered service at:------. Birth: Ireland. Date of issue: December 2, 1876.

Private Bell should not to be confused with two-time Medal of Honor recipient James Franklin Bell who later obtained the rank of Major General or with Sergeant James B. Bell of the 11th Ohio Infantry, who was awarded his medal during the Civil War
