Anthony Civella

Anthony Civella

Anthony Thomas "Tony Ripe" Civella (February 17, 1930-February 16, 2006) was a Kansas City, Missouri mobster who was head of the Kansas City crime family.

In 1984, both he and his father, organization boss Carl "Corky" Civella were convicted of running skimming operations in Las Vegas, Nevada casinos. Upon his conviction, Carl passed control of the organization to his son, even though Anthony was also convicted and sentenced to five years in prison. Anthony reportedly controlled the organization while in prison through acting boss William "Willie the Rat" Cammasino. The Kansas City organization was able to continue both its legal gaming operations in Nevada and its illegal gambling activities. Anthony was released from prison in either 1988 or 1989.

In 1992, Anthony was convicted of reselling stolen prescription drugs and sent back to prison. He was released in 1997. During this period, the Nevada Gaming Commission listed Anthony in its "Black Book" of individuals prohibited from association with Nevada casinos.

On February 16, 2006, Anthony Civella died of natural causes.
