EDE or Equinox Desktop Environment is a small desktop environment that is meant to be simple and fast. It is based on a modified version of FLTK called eFLTK, though EDE 2 will be based on regular FLTK. [ [http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=20070703161444.GA25814%40stigmata.pmf.unsa.ba&forum_name=ede-devel ede-devel: Current work update (2007-07-03)] retrieved 20080117] It has a familiar look and feel in that it resembles the classic look in Microsoft Windows.

EDE distributions

EDE is not as common in Linux distributions as other desktop environments such as KDE, GNOME, and Xfce. It is available as an optional package in Minix 3. [cite web|url=http://wiki.minix3.org/wikis/minix3/Window_Managers|title=Minix 3 Window Managers|accessyear=2008|accessdate=July 22]
