Evaporating basin

Evaporating basin

An evaporating basin is a small basin used to evaporate liquids to obtain the dry forms of the substances dissolved in them. Evaporating basins typically have a 4-5 inch diameter, are made out of white ceramic, and have a lip for the pouring of excess liquid. They are usually 2-3 mm thick to aid heat transfer.

When used with a bunsen burner they are placed on top of a wire gauze and tripod stand.
