Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive

The Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAM/PFA) is associated with the University of California, Berkeley in Berkeley, California.

The museum was founded in 1963, "following artist and teacher Hans Hofmann's donation of forty-five paintings and $250,000 to the University." In 1964, a competition to design the building was announced and the museum opened in 1970. [http://bampfa.berkeley.edu/about/ BAM/PFA About] ] The museum has featured works by Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Albert Bierstadt, Paul Gauguin, Helen Frankenthaler, Jay DeFeo, Joan Brown, Jonathan Borofsky, Juan Gris, Robert Colescott, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sebastião Salgado, and Paul Kos. It also offers the "The MATRIX Program for Contemporary Art".

The Pacific Film Archive began screening films in 1966 and specializes in international films. The PFA also includes a library [ [http://bampfa.berkeley.edu/pfalibrary/ BAM/PFA Library] ] which includes an online database of documentation associated with the films.
