Vice-Admiral Hyde Parker CB (1786 – 26 May 1854) was a senior British naval officer who started to serve during the Napoleonic Wars and who was appointed First Sea Lord of the Admiralty in 1852. He is generally known as "Hyde Parker III".

Naval career

Hyde Parker III was the son of Admiral Sir Hyde Parker and grandson of Sir Hyde Parker, 5th Baronet.

He joined the Royal Navy in 1796. Between 1811 and 1840 he commanded successively HMS "Monmouth", HMS "Tenedos", HMS "Iphigenia", HMS "St Vincent", HMS "Asia", HMS "Victory" and HMS "Rodney".

He was appointed First Sea Lord in 1852 and died in office in 1854.

Family

His son, Hyde Parker IV, was a captain in the Black Sea during the Crimean War and was killed on 8 July 1854 when storming a Russian fort at Sulina.
