USS "Dewey" (DLG-14/DDG-45) was a ship in the United States Naval Service. She was named to honor
George Dewey , the United States' only Admiral of the Navy. "Dewey" was laid downAugust 10 1957 , byBath Iron Works ,Bath, Maine . She was launched30 November 1958 and sponsored by Mrs. K. St. George, United States Representative from New York State. "Dewey" commissioned7 December 1959 , CommanderElmo R. Zumwalt, Jr. , in command. She was decommissionedAugust 31 ,1990 and struckNovember 20 1992 to be scrapped.External links
