Karthik Sivakumar (credited as Karthi on screen) is an award-winning Tamil film actor. He is son of veteran actor Sivakumar and younger brother of Surya Sivakumar. He rose to fame after he debuted in "Paruthiveeran", for which he received a Filmfare Best Actor Award.

Film career

Karthi has completed his M.S. (industrial engineering) from Binghamton University, State University of New York in the United States, and done a couple of basic courses in film-making. After returning to India, he joined as an assistant to Mani Rathnam in directing "Aayitha Ezhuthu" and "Yuva". Mani Rathnam had wanted him to act in "Aayitha Ezhuthu" but Karthi rejected the offer, thus the role was given to Siddarth Narayan.

His dream was to be a director but when Ameer, well acclaimed director of "Raam", approached him to play the hero in his new film "Paruthiveeran", Karthi accepted the offer.

He is currently acting in "Aayirathil Oruvan" directed by Selvaraghavan.
