"Bzzz!" is a relationship game show that aired from 1996-1998. The show was hosted by Annie Wood who also served as the show's co-producer, and produced by Ralph Edwards/Stu Billett Productions.

Premise

The show itself is kind of a fast paced version of The Dating Game. During the show, a bachelor and bachelorette compete against each other to win a date with a member of the opposite sex, and money.

Round 1

The bachelorette goes first. Behind a screen, which the bachelorette can not see through, are four different men, and she gets to ask them each one question. After the questions have been asked, she must eliminate one of the men from consideration, however, he is not eliminated from the game yet. The bachelorette now gets to question the remaining three men in detail. She has a total of two minutes to do this. One at a time, the men are questioned. If she doesn't like the man's answer, she presses the "Bzzer", the set goes dark with the BZZZ! in red showing on the wall, thusly eliminating him from the game. The "Bzzz'd" player is then immediately escorted offstage by Annie, and made to wear earphones so they can't hear why they got "Bzzz'd". If she "bzzes" all three men, or her two minutes expires, she is stuck with the 4th man she eliminated at the beginning of the game. However, if she likes the answer a man gives, she rings the bell. If the bachelorette rings the bell before all the men could be questioned, she is shown the remaining bachelors she turned down. Then the process is repeated with a bachelor choosing from 4 possible bachelorettes. Once the round is finished, round two then begins.

Round 2 (Simpatico)

The bachelorette and her prospected mate are given a paddle that has two different answers on it. They are both asked to go to a booth where they can not see each other's answer. The host reads a statement, and the players choose their answers. If the answers match, the pair is awarded $100. If they don't, no money is awarded, but no money is lost. If the pair gets a perfect 7 out of 7, the pair is awarded $1,000. After seven questions, the second couple played the round. Later in the run, round two was played immedietly after the first couple was formed, and again after the second couple; plus it was shortned to 5 questions.

The pair that wins the most money during Round 2, wins the game, and move on to the Final Bzzz. Both pairs keep their money.

Tiebreakers

In the event of a tie, two tiebreakers were used during the show's run.

Season 1: One couple was asked a percentage question, and asked to offer an answer. The remaining couple had to guess if the correct answer was higher or lower than the answer the first couple gave. Whichever couple was more accurate, won the game.

Season 2: Both couples were asked the question, and both couples offered an answer. Whichever couple was closest WITHOUT GOING OVER won the game. In the event both couples were over, the winner would be the couple that went over the least.

Final Bzzz

The roles are now reversed. The original contestant is now questioned by their prospected mate. If the mate rings the bell, the date is on, and the show pays for all the expenses. However, if the mate hits the "Bzzer", the date is off, and the mate is given a prize package for their trouble.
