Ambulance chaser

Ambulance chaser is a derogatory phrase sometimes used to describe a trial lawyer who specializes in representing accident victims. It typically refers to attorneys who solicit business (sometimes called barratry) from accident victims or their families at the scene of an accident or disaster (or immediately thereafter). "Ambulance chaser" is also a literal term for funeral directors who solicit business from dying individuals. They can often be found in situations where there is an imminent death coming. They earn commissions from the funeral service provider they work with.

The term is also used as a derogatory term in the media, used against reporters to imply they attempt to find the news once it has happened and, use hear-say, rather than being at the event which took place.
