Annette Robinson represents District 56 in the
New York State Assembly , which includes most ofBedford-Stuyvesant .Chosen in a
special election held in 2002-where she garnered over 90% of the vote-she currently serves as the District Leader/State Committeewoman for the 56th Assembly District. She has been employed in a variety of capacities in the past, including as a member of the Community School Board for District 16-where she served three terms-as Coordinator and Liaison for formerNew York City ComptrollerHarrison J. Goldin -for six years-and as the District Director for retiring U.S. CongressmanMajor Owens .Prior to her election to the Assembly Robinson was the Councilwoman for District 36 in the
New York City Council , which she had represented since 1991.In addition to her work in the New York Assembly, Robinson is the Vice-Chairwoman of the New York State Council of Black Elected Democrats. She served as President of the Lay Ministers of Our Lady of Charity Roman Catholic Church for over two decades.
