Previous = 1979The 1980 World Championship for Makes season was the 28th FIA World Sportscar Championship. It was a series running under both Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) regulations. It ran from February 2, 1980 to September 28, 1980, and was comprised of 11 races, including races run with Camel GT Championship.
A World Challenge for Endurance Drivers was also held alongside the Championship for Makes, but also included five other endurance races in Europe and North America. The challenge was not awarded World Championship status, but would be promoted the following season and join the Championship for Makes. John Paul, Sr. won the World Challenge.
