The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2006 was the second edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. The tournament took place in Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from November 2 to November 12.

Organization

16 teams were split into 4 groups of 4 with the Top-2 from each group advancing to the knock-out phase. A team received three points for a win in regular time, or two points for a win in overtime, or no points for a defeat (whether be it in regular time or overtime).

Tie-breaking Criteria

Ranking in each group was determined as follows:
#greater number of points obtained in all the group matches;If 2 or more teams are equal on the basis of the above criterion, theirranking were to be determined as follows:
#greater number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned
#greater goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned;
#greater number of goals scored in the group matches between the teams concerned;
#greater goal difference in all the group matches;
#greater number of goals scored in all the group matches;
#lower number of red cards received during the competition;
#lower number of yellow cards received during the competition;
#drawing of lots by FBSSL.

NB: Only goals scored during regular time and overtime were considered under the above resolution criteria.
