James Madison High School is a public high school located at 3787 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, and educates grades 9 through 12. It is part of Region 6 in the New York City Department of Education. The current principal is Joseph Gogliormella.

Built over 75 years ago, James Madison has graduated several Nobel Prize winners, famous musicians, authors, sports players, a mafia hitman and a United States Supreme Court Justice.

The 2006 election of Bernard Sanders (I-VT) to the U.S. Senate, meant that three sitting Senators, including Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Norm Coleman (R-MN), will be graduates of James Madison.

Academics

James Madison High School is organized in accordance with the House Model. There are eight houses at JMHS. Each House has a Teacher Coordinator, a Guidance Counselor, and an Assistant Principal assigned to supervise and assist students.

Most students who apply to James Madison High School have the opportunity to apply into a specific "House". The most notable houses in Madison are
*Bio-Medical Institute- One of the top three houses in Madison, it is sometimes referred to as simply, Bio-Med. In this honor program, students who are interested in the Sciences take such classes as Biology, AP Biology, Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Physics, Pathology,Laboratory Techniques, and Computer Research. Students in this program are offered internships in health science facilities as well as the opportunity to participate in local and national science competitions.

*Math Academy-One of the top three houses in Madison, the Math Academy has students who are given the opportunity to study mathematics and computer science. Students in this House take some of the following classes: Advanced Placement Computer Science, Advanced Placement Calculus AB and Advanced Placement Calculus BC

*Law House- One of the top three houses in Madison, it is designed for successful Social Studies students. In addition to being taught reasoning and communication skills, the students develop an understanding of American Legal institutions. Students in the Law House take classes/participate in activities such as Model U.N, Mock Trial, Moot Court, We The People, Legal Economics,Criminology Advanced Placement Economics
**It is very common that students in these three Houses have the same classes together, because they are considered the Top Three Houses in Madison

Extracurricular Activities

SING!, which is a student produced musical, has been a Madison tradition for many years. Students are split into two teams, Seniors/Sophomores and Juniors/Freshmen. Madison Offers a wide range of psal varsity and junior varsity sports. Student Union Government
