FK Rad , making his first first-team appearance in 2000, at the age of 21. Dutch sideVitesse Arnhem showed interest in the player and brought him into theEredivisie in 2002, where he played as a first-team regular for three seasons. In 2005 he moved to fellow Eredivisie participantsADO Den Haag where he became one of their key players.Ranković hit the news in January 2007, when he was sent off in the 3-1 defeat to AZ. He later received a five match ban for shouting, "When I see you in the city, I kill you", to the match referee, Kevin Blom. The incident took place after Blom awarded AZ a penalty, and Ranković pushed Blom whilst shouting the death threat. "The Royal Dutch Football Union (KNVB) will need to confirm this", the Union’s spokesperson Renske Bruinsma said. "You have to have a good reason to disqualify someone for five games", she said.
