Diplomatic missions of France

Diplomatic missions of France

France's permanent representation abroad began in the reign of François I, when in 1522 he sent a delegation to the Swiss. Despite its reduced presence following decolonisation, France still has substantial influence in the world. France has the world's second largest network, second to the network of the United States [http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/ministry_158/embassies-and-consulates_2052/bilateral-embassies_1580.html] . Listed below are France's overseas missions, excluding honorary consulates [http://www.expatries.diplomatie.gouv.fr/annuaires/repdipet.asp] .
