Historic quarter

Quimperlé's historic quarter is filled with pretty winding streets and the quaint half-timbered houses known as “maisons colombages”. Oozing mediaeval charm, the town attracts many tourists in summer. Quimperlé is not a particularly large town, but it has its share of historic monuments, amongst which feature the Abbey of Saint Croix, the Church of Notre Dame de l'Assumption and the ruins of St Colomban. One of its prettiest features is the Pont Fleuri, the old bridge which is covered with beautiful floral displays in summer [http://www.frenchpropertylinks.com/brittany/finistere/quimperle.htm Quimperlé Property guide] ] .

Out and about

There is a general market in Quimperlé every Friday morning, and this is an excellent opportunity to see a real slice of local colour, as well as to avail yourself of the chance to buy the very best of local goods and produce. If you are a lover of fish and seafood, don't miss the daily fish market too... just follow your nose! Like many French towns, Quimperlé has its fair share of festivals and fêtes, and the details of these can be obtained from the tourist office. There are musical concerts and festivals throughout August, and the major event of the Fête de la Laïta is definitely worth attending.
