Awaji, Hyōgo

nihongo|Awaji|淡路市|Awaji-shi is a city located on Awaji Island in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan.

Awaji City was founded on April 1, 2005 from the merger of the town of Awaji with the neighboring towns of Higashiura, Hokudan, Ichinomiya and Tsuna, all in Tsuna District.

As of 2008, the city has an estimated population of 49,812 and a density of 281.16 persons per km². The total area is 184.05 km².
