Eighteen years later, the song was revived by teen singer Aaliyah, and became a charted hit reaching number three on the pop singles chart and number one on the R&B singles chart and was a success by reaching number ten in the UK pop charts becoming her second top ten single in that country. Of all the artists who covered the song, her version was the most successful. Remix

The song became a hit based on remix versions Aaliyah cut with R. Kelly featured on the song chanting "this is for the steppers" and earlier saying, "1-2, check up, baby, lemme know what's up" before Aaliyah began singing. The Music Video was shot back to back with R. Kelly's Summer Bunnies and were both smash hits in Fall 1994.

Chart

It became another successful hit for Aaliyah peaking number three on Billboard Hot 100, number two in ARC Weekly Top 40 for two weeks and number two on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, it was less successful on Mainstream radio in the US where it peaked at #12 on the Top 40 Mainstream. It was also successful outside the US, peaking at number ten on the UK Singles Chart, number twelve on ARIA Australia and number eleven on Irish Singles Chart just missing the top ten spot.
