Academic biography

Glenn McGee, Ph.D. (born in Waco, Texas) is an American bioethicist. He holds degrees in philosophy from Vanderbilt University and Baylor University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Human Genome Project. He has been noted most frequently for his work on reproductive technology and genetics and for advancing a theory of pragmatic bioethics, as well as the role of ethicists in society and in local and state settings in particular. From 1995-2005, McGee was an assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania's newly founded Center for Bioethics. In 2005, he was recruited as the founding director of Albany Medical College of Union University's Alden March Bioethics Institute. His abrupt dismissal three years later created a minor controversy.
