"Malan Breton" also refers to his brands of apparel, jewelry, and accessories.

Life and career
Breton was born in Taipei, Taiwan.[1] Breton is self taught and never went to design school.[2] He began designing at the age of eleven but grew up, as a performer, in the entertainment industry.[1]
In 1996, as a model, Breton moved to New York after a request by Versus and KCD to cast for the New York fashion week Spring 1997 Collection shows at 7th on Sixth.[3] As a model, Breton was photographed by top photographers and directors Len Prince, Hype Williams,[4][5] Thom Oliphant,[6][7] Joseph Kahn[8][9] to name a few. Breton in 1998 was featured in David Barton Gym's "Look Better Naked" campaign, photographed by Len Prince.
Living in New York, Breton got his start (in fashion) as a stylist for Barney's. His clients included Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion, and Linda Evangelista. As Breton worked with these stars, he eventually fell into the design world.[10]
Breton studied at Circle in the Square theatre school on Broadway.[11] Breton performed on Broadway at the Henry Millers Theatre.[12] Breton as a dancer worked with Paula Abdul.[13] Breton acted as a fashion photographer from the years 2000–2004; this work is subject of a book named Fantôme 2000 – 2004.[14][15] Breton became the promo voice of ESPN Extreme Sports and ABC Sports[16] Breton left the entertainment industry in to launch Malan Breton Collection[17]
In 2005, Breton was one of twelve new designers to watch for on the New York runway in Women's Wear Dailies cheat sheet.[18]
Malan Breton has dressed celebrities from the worlds of television, music, film, and Broadway including: Minnie Driver,[19] Ricki Lake,[20] Martha Plimpton,[21] and Nikki Blonsky.[22] Malan Breton Collection was noted as InStyle Magazines look of the day, worn by American Actress Katrina Bowden[23]
Malan Breton Collection expanded in 2008 to include Bijoux Malan Breton and Malan Breton Accessories.[17] Breton is known for his simple shift dresses made in elegant materials[24] and for his slouchy pajama pants[25]
In 2010 Breton expanded to include Malan Breton Homme (Men)[26] Breton's Mens collection has been worn by Nolan Gerard Funk,[17][27] Anoop Desai,[28] Featured in Elle, L'uomo Vogue, Daman, Blackbook.
Breton's first two Mercedes Benz Fashion Week official Bryant Park fashion shows were sponsored by Michael Buble and Warner/ Reprise[29]
In 2010 Breton starred opposite Academy Award winner Celeste Holme in "My Guaranteed Student Loan"; the film was a special selection at the Cannes Film Festival.[30]
"Minute to Win It" (NBC/Universal
Breton designed costumes for NBC's prime-time game show Minute to Win It. The show starred Guy Fieri which featured "Game Agents" Petra Lauren Gilmore and Ling Ai-Li Wang each week wearing Malan Breton designs.[31][31][32]
Awards
In 2011 Malan Breton and NBC Universal were nominated for the WGSN Global Fashion Award in the category of Outstanding Fashion Collaboration.[33]
Lectures and Juries
In 2007 Malan Breton came to Princeton University to give a multifaceted presentation on "Optimizing Your Personal Style".[34] He has been on a panel of industry professionals at the Teen Design Fairs for 2008, 2009, and 2010 at Cooper-Hewitt[35] In February 2008 Malan Breton along with, Chris Benz, and Prabal Gurung, acted as Judges at the Fusion fashion show, featuring students from FIT and Parsons school of design[36] Nov. 10, 2010 Breton joined an "expert panel of judges, made up of some of the most influential people in the fashion," as judge to WGSN's Global Fashion Awards[37] Breton along with Kim Kardashian, Whitney Port, and Estelle served as a presenter at the 2010 CEW Beauty Awards[38] Malan Breton will serve as judge to the second annual WGSN Global Fashion Awards in 2011[39] Breton was a featured contestant on artist Mark Kostabi's weekly cable TV show, The Kostabi Show, where noted art critics and celebrities compete to title his paintings[40]

Malan Breton writes a weekly column in OK! Magazine called "Malan's Musings",.[41] Breton has contributed to The New York Times, where he shared his fall favorites in a column called "My New York"[42] Dallas Morning News/Shopping Blog[43] Out Magazine[44] BravoTV.com where he writes for his own blog[45] Breton is also the host of the Designer to Designer video and editorial columns for La'g Magazine[46] where he has interviewed designers like John Bartlett,[47] Max Azria of BCBG,[48] Luca Orlandi of Luca Luca,[49] and HX Magazine, where Breton contributed a bi weekly column called Fashionista[50] and Breton covered the 82nd Academy Awards for OK! Magazine in a column called "Malan Breton Takes on Oscar Fashion!"[51]
"The Malan Show" (Bravo NBC/Universal)
Breton was the subject/host of The Malan Show was featured on BravoTV.com as a weekly web series. It followed the process of making it in America as an independent designer.[52][53]
Australia's Next Top Model (Fox 8 Australia)
Breton was featured on an episode of Australia's Next Top Model (Cycle 4). In an episode called "New York, New York" The final 3 were judged in a retrospective catwalk of Breton's fashions, their finale fashion show before the top two were chosen.[54][55]
Project Runway(Bravo NBC/Universal)
Breton later became a cast member of Bravo TV's Project Runway[56]
Charity
Breton dedicates his energies to amFAR[57] and Care and Share India[58] July 7, 2010 Fashion Designer Malan Breton presided over the NASDAQ closing Bell accompanied by representatives from Care and Share India.[59] In 2010 Malan Breton lent his likeness to an HIV awareness campaign featuring 250 plus celebrities and social figures, the campaign is called BE-THE-LINK[60]
