José Francisco Cevallos (born 17 April, 1971) is an Ecuadorian football goalkeeper who played 77 times for the Ecuador national team between 1994 and 2005. [ [http://www.rsssf.com/miscellaneous/ecua-recintlp.html rsssf: Ecuador record international footballers] ]

He has played most of his professional club career for Barcelona Sporting Club where he played over 400 games and was part of 3 Ecuadorian league championship winning campaigns (1991, 1995 & 1997).

He has also played for with Once Caldas in Colombia and Deportivo Azogues in 2007. In 2008 Cevallos was announced as part of LDU Quito for the 2008 season. [ [http://www.elcomercio.com/solo_texto_search.asp?id_noticia=103551&anio=2007&mes=12&dia=21 El Mercio] ]

He is also known for having a good family who has supported him in many ways, especially football. He has a brother, Alex Cevallos, who used to play for Emelec (Barcelona's archirival).

He was awarded achievements when he played for Barcelona as the 1995 and 1997 domestic tournaments.

During the Copa Libertadores 1992 he helped his team to reach the South American semifinals after defeating Cerro Porteño of Paraguay. Barcelona was beatean by eventual 1992 Libertardores winners, Brazilian club Sao Paulo.

In 1998 Barcelona reached the cup finals, after beating Cerro Porteño in penalties, Cevallos was a key player that night stopping 3 penalties. Barcelona lost the Libertadores Finals against Vasco da Gama (BRA)

In 2008, he returned for the national team in an unofficial friendly match against his current club, LDU Quito. This was the first time that he played for Ecuador in 4 years. He played the first half of the 5-0 win until he was replaced by Espoli's Maximo Banguera.

Later he was called again to play 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification against Argentina and Colombia.

During the Copa Libertadores 2008 he and LDU reached the finals. Once again, after 10 years, Cevallos was a key player. In the Quarter-finals LDU eliminated San Lorenzo de Almagro. After a tie 1 - 1 both in Buenos Aires and Quito; in the penalty shootout Cevallos stopped Aureliano Torres penalty.

In the Finals LDU played against Fluminense. In Quito LDU won 4 - 2 but in Rio, Fluminense won 3 - 1. Tied 5 - 5 even after the additional periods the Copa Libertadores 2008 was defined a penalty shootout. And, again, Cevallos was a key player stopping Darío Conca, Thiago Neves and Washington penalties. LDU was crowned as Southamerican Champion in the Maracana Stadium.
