Petalies Gulf

The Petalies Gulf (Greek: Κόλπος Πεταλιών), also the South Evvian Gulf or the South Euboean Gulf is a gulf that connects with the South Evian Gulf near Agia Marina and to the to the north. The total length is approximately 50 to 60 km long from north to south and is approximately from 6 to 8 km wide in the north to about 40 to 50 km in the south from east to west. It stretches from the South Evian Gulf near Agia Marina in the north down to the area of Karystia and Perigiali (a few kilometres north of Lavrio) and the northernmost tip of the island of Makronissos where a strait named the same name as the island and the rest of the Aegean Sea. Several islands including Vergoudi and Styra.

The mountains dominate the west, the south and the northeast, the plain of Mesogeia to the west. Ferry routes linking Rafina and Karystos as well as Marmari and the island of Kea and parts of the line with Agia Marina and Panagia as well as Styra lies in this gulf. Numerous beaches and ports surround the gulf in numerous places except for Dilessi. Points, and promontories includes Cape Marathon in Attica and the mainland and Tigani, Stroglio and Viglia in the island of Euboea.
