Beavercreek High School is a public high school for grades 9-12 located in Beavercreek, Ohio. The principal is Marian West. It is a member of the Beavercreek City School District, and it is the only high school in the district. Beavercreek High School is located in a suburban setting. The mascot of Beavercreek High School is the Battlin' Beavers.

The school has approximately 2600 students, making it the fourth largest high school in Ohio, based on student population. Many classes are offered for students at Beavercreek High School, including a wide variety of Honors and Scholarship classes. The school also offers 10 AP classes. The school's girls basketball team has a long history of excellence in competition.

Due to overcrowding, the district is to turning Ferguson middle school located adjacent to BHS into a 9th grade building, thus creating a highschool campus. After failing to pass by some 500 votes in November there is another bond issue on the March ballot to fund this plan. If passed an additional middle school, elementary school, and preschool will be built.

History

In Beavercreek Township, the first school built was built in a log building on farm property. Years later, the first Beavercreek high school, Beavercreek Township High School, was built in 1888. In 1932, the high school, along with other Beavercreek schools, moved into one school, currently known as Main Elementary School. In 1950, another high school was built, which became the current Beavercreek High School. Beavercreek High School changed from a four year high school to a three year high school in 1969 due to overcrowding. In 1999, the high school returned to a four year system. According to the Ohio Department of Education, in the 2005-2006 school year, there are 23 students per full time employed teacher. 88% of the students are White American, 6% are Asian American or Pacific Islander American, 3% are multiracial, 2% are African American, and 2% are Hispanic. The total per pupil expenditures is $7,055, compared to the state average of $9,052 The attendance rate is 93%, and the graduation rate is 96 percent. The purpose of Beavercreek High School is to promote the intellectual, social, physical, and creative development of all students as well as to encourage development of responsible behavior. Students will have the opportunity to become involved in decisions affecting their lives. Professional staff will accommodate individual needs and goals of all students by providing a diverse curriculum, current materials and media, a variety of co-curricular activities and an atmosphere that encourages mutual respect. Beavercreek Band & Color Guard

* The Beavercreek Band & Color Guard is known well throughout ohio as one of the many top performing bands. With many successful seasons in the past, Beavercreek Band & Color Guard continues to keeps its honor held high. The 2008-2009 Band and Color Guard has 202 members in their program this year leading their 2008 tour "Tears For Fears". The Beavercreek Band & Color Guard is under the Direction of Douglas McCullough, the band director of Beavercreek High School Band for 22 years. The Band is known for more than just their outstanding achievments in their fall marching season, but with 2 Jazz ensembles, Varsity Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony. The Weekend of Jazz is held every spring and features many famous musicians. The Beavercreek Band & Color Guard's Success is determined by: Discipline, Citizenship, Dedication, Focus, and Unity. The Band is planning on getting new uniforms in mid-season around Homecoming.

Accomplishments

* The school's Academic Challenge team won WHIO TV's "High-Q" gameshow during the 1998-1999, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons. During those seasons, they set the current records for all-time high score (830), most championships (3) and most consecutive wins (16). The team also won the state championship in 1990, 1994, 2000 and 2001, representing the state of Ohio in the Panasonic Academic Challenge in Orlando, Florida.Fact|date=August 2007 It also represented the state of Ohio in 1992.

* The school's Science Bowl team competed in the 2006 National Science Bowl, and has qualified again in 2007. Track Renovation

Due to a deteriorating track, Miami Valley Hospital will spend 1.3 million dollars to renovate the current track. The new track will include an all-season surface. The football field will also be replaced, and artificial turf will be put in. In addition, athtletes will be able to use athletic-related services from the hospital. The new facility will be named "Frank Zink Field at Miami Valley Hospital Stadium", which is a slight change from the previous name, "Frank Zink Field."
