Destructix

Destructix

. It is a group of six permanent members, all of whom have done battle with Sonic and his allies at various times, as well as a number of other villains who have joined with them temporarily only to leave the group. In comic issue #162 they formally introduce themselves as a group, though they had been working together for some time before then. Prior to their joining forces, all six were held prisoner at the prison of Devil's Gulag.

Group History

The Destructix has been composed of several criminals, six of them permanent members who served either Dr. Robotnik or Mammoth Mogul, virtually all of whom eventually ended up in Devil's Gulag prison. Escaping due to the intervention of , they joined up with such other criminals as Warlord Kodos, Uma Arachnis, Snively Kintobor, and Nack the Weasel in an effort to seize power. However, after being thwarted in their efforts to hold Nate Morgan captive, the six core members of the group left the other four to go their own way. They ended up taking over one of Robotnik's old factories, keeping Tommy Turtle as their personal punching bag until they approached Robotnik to make a deal for the factory. A different version of the megalomaniac they were familiar with, this Robotnik Roboticized them all, only for them to later be De-Roboticized by the Bem. Officially forming the group under the name Destructix, they attempted to claim Mammoth Mogul's Chaos Emerald, but were defeated and reimprisoned. Liberated by Mogul, they were then joined by the Arachne and Ixis Naugus, and engaged the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix in battle before being captured by Robotnik's Egg Fleet and being imprisoned in the Egg Grape Chamber.

Dr. Finitevus liberated the six core members after they were abandoned by Mogul, and their ranks were soon added to by the addition of Scourge the Hedgehog and Fiona Fox. They briefly served as Finitevus' enforcers on Angel Island, but after losing another battle to Sonic the Hedgehog and witnessing the destruction caused by a battle between Super Sonic and the near omnipotent Enerjak, the group fled through one of Finitevus' Warp Rings. Scourge and Fiona went their own way, while the rest of the group reentered the employ of Mammoth Mogul, who had escaped from prison after forcing Sonic to let him go and established himself in a renovated casino that had once belonged to Robotnik.

Members

Drago Wolf

Drago was once a member of the Wolf Pack Freedom Fighters. He was the wildcard of the group - usually the first to disobey orders and go off on his own. Easily swayed by his lust for the easy life, Drago defected to Robotnik's side and started acting as a double agent. He convinced his abused girlfriend, Hershey, to sneak into Robotropolis wearing a Sonic the Hedgehog suit in a staged mission to kill Robotnik's nephew, Snively. Unknown to Hershey, the suit was fitted with an optical device that caused her to believe that anyone she saw was Snively. Because of this, Hershey nearly killed Sally Acorn, cutting the rope that was suspending Sally with a knife. When Hershey realized what Drago had made her do, she retaliated by beating him up and knocking him out by throwing a rock at his head when he tried to make a hasty escape. Drago was captured and sent to the Devil's Gulag with several other prisoners, sentenced to life behind bars for his crimes.

After the mass jailbreak from Devil's Gulag, Drago teamed up with Sleuth Doggy Dogg and the Fearsome Foursome and hid out for a while, until he approached Robo-Robotnik aka Dr. Eggman. This encounter left Drago roboticized, and caught in an explosion shortly thereafter that leveled the building. Drago apparently escaped the building's destruction, and with the rest of the inhabitants was De-Roboticized. However, he was later seen making a deal with a mysterious entity known as "Anonymous." Robotic duplicates of Drago and his cohorts were later deployed by Anonymous, only to be destroyed. They carried video footage of Drago and the others' meeting and a message from Anonymous, who was later revealed to be Robotnik's computer virus "son" A.D.A.M..

The true Drago formed the Destructix with his fellow former inmates. Thus renamed, the group attempted to defeat the Freedom Fighters/Chaotix on their own. Unfortunately for them, they were defeated and imprisoned, only to be later freed and pressed into the service of Mammoth Mogul. After a battle against both the Freedom Fighters/Chaotix and the Arachne, the two villain forces united, placing Drago and the other members of the Destructix together with the Arachne under both Mogul and Ixis Naugus. However, after the Sword and Crown of Acorns were destroyed, Drago and his fellow villains were all captured by the Egg Fleet and imprisoned in the Egg Grape Chamber. However, Drago and his associates were later rescued by Dr. Finitevus, an action reported to the Freedom Fighters by Rouge the Bat. Drago, like his cohorts, took part in Finitevus' plans to trick Locke into handing over the duties of protecting Angel Island to the albino scientist. Drago and the other Destructix later ambushed Knuckles the Echidna when he arrived on Angel Island, and even Drago's getting knocked down didn't save Knuckles from being taken to Finitevus, Lien-Da, and Remington, and then becoming the new Enerjak.

Drago's personality makes him one of the more unlikable villains. He is quite a brute, but also a coward. Since he values strength above all else, Drago will also serve anyone who can outdo him in terms of ferocity.

The Original Fearsome Foursome

A group of four villains consisting of Lightning Lynx, Sergeant Simian, Flying Frog, and Predator Hawk. Minor villains, the Fearsome Foursome first appeared in the service of Mammoth Mogul. Serving as Mogul's dumb muscle, their role was to occupy the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix while Mogul deals with Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna, and Miles "Tails" Prower. However, they proved inept time and again, eventually winding up in Devil's Gulag prison.

Escaping from prison, the group hooked up with Drago Wolf and other escaped prisoners. They were later roboticized by Dr. Eggman, but were de-roboticized by the Bem. Shortly after this, they were among the massive force that assembled to battle the Xorda. Following Sonic's return from space, however, a group of robots identical to their Robian forms were deployed by an entity known at that time as "Anonymous." In fact, the robots were only copies, and the real Fearsome Foursome teamed up with Drago and Sleuth Doggy Dog to form the Destructix, who set out to steal Mogul's Chaos Emerald. Presumably, this mission was part of their deal with Anonymous, who was in reality A.D.A.M., whose primary goal was to obtain all the Chaos Emeralds in the universe.

The Fearsome Foursome were defeated by their old enemies and imprisoned again, only to be freed by their old boss Mammoth Mogul. After a major battle, the Fearsome Foursome and their teammates were joined by the Arachne. All of them were briefly imprisoned in the Egg Grape Chamber, but were freed by Dr. Finitevus. Following a period of inactivity in his service, they attacked a group of Dingoes who threatened Echidna people on Angel Island. Through this deception, they and their two comrades in the Destructix became Finitevus' deputies after he took on the role of Guardian. Following Enerjak's rebirth, all the members of the group were dispatched to guard a weapon made to destroy Enerjak by the Brotherhood of Guardians. They fought Sonic and a handful of allies briefly, only to have the Hedgehog destroy the weapon he had come looking for and leave them with nothing to do but retreat. Fleeing the battle between Super Sonic and Enerjak, they ended up rejoining their old master, Mammoth Mogul, who had replaced the old Fearsome Foursome with a new group: Mighty the Armadillo, Mina Mongoose, Tails, and Sonic, though only the first three were actually dominated by him. After failing to defeat Sonic with them, Mogul sent them all into potentially deadly situations to force Sonic to deliver a Chaos Emerald that would allow him to escape. Having accomplished his goal, Mogul dissolved his new Foursome and left New Mobotropolis, his intent being to wait until Sonic was no longer around to pose a threat to his empire.

Each member of the Fearsome Foursome has a different combat ability, which often leads to them fighting one-on-one with individual members of the Freedom Fighters and Chaotix. Sergeant Simian has super strength, in addition to a vast arsenal of weaponry. Predator Hawk has the power to fly, while Flying Frog actually glides. Lightning Lynx rounds things out with super speed, and also possesses super hearing and reflexes. As a result of their abilities, each member of the Fearsome Foursome had a rivalry with a core member of the Chaotix. Sergeant Simian was primarily an opponent of Mighty the Armadillo, due to both of them possessing super strength. Flying Frog's flexibility led him to clash with Vector the Crocodile, the smooth mover of the Chaotix. Lightning Lynx faced Espio the Chameleon over speed, while Predator Hawk and Charmy Bee fought in the skies.

leuth "Doggy" Dawg

Originally a member of the Freedom Fighters operating undercover in Robotropolis, Sleuth 'Doggy' Dawg was swayed to Dr. Robotnik's side by promises of wealth and personal power. His attempted coup against Princess Sally Acorn was unsuccessful, and he was incarcerated at the Devil's Gulag prison. Upon his escape, he teamed up with several other prisoners to take his revenge, but they were Roboticized by Eggman. After their De-Roboticization, the group had robot duplicates of themselves created by Anonymous, and recordings in the wreckages of these machines showed the Destructix dealing with Anonymous.

Doggy joined his teammates in an attack on Knothole Village in an effort to recover the Chaos Emerald containing Mammoth Mogul. After their defeat and reincarceration, they were liberated by Mogul, and engaged the forces of Ixis Naugus in battle briefly before teaming up with the wizard against the Freedom Fighters and the Chaotix. Doggy and his allies were afterwards attacked imprisoned again, but later escaped courtesy of Dark Legion renegade Dr. Finitevus. Doggy later appeared alongside Scourge the Hedgehog, working under Finitevus' orders. During this battle, he made vague reference to Fiona Fox being a traitor. Not long afterwards, he joined the other Destructix in assisting Finitevus' plans for seizing control of the Master Emerald, thus facilitating the return of Enerjak.

Due to being situated on Angel Island on the time, Doggy and the others were not among those criminals fooled by Rouge the Bat's sting operation. The list of their fellow fugitives who were captured in the operation included Mogul, Naugus, Nack the Weasel, Bark the Polar Bear, and Bean the Dynamite. In addition, Doggy and the rest of the Destructix were not among those transported to the Egg Grape Chamber, a fate that befell both their imprisoned colleagues and most of the Freedom Fighers and Chaotix-though all of them were rescued soon afterwards by Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Amy Rose, and NICOLE. He and the other Destructix were later in position to challenge Locke, Sonic, and Knuckles' girlfriend Julie-Su when they arrived searching for a weapon to use against Enerjak.

Somewhat more brutal than most of the secondary villains, Dogg was able to hold out against Robotnik's Roboticization longer than the rest of the team. When it became clear that he was beaten, he attempted to blow them and himself apart with a hand grenade. Like Drago, he is willing to sell out anyone so long as there's something in it for him, and he also appears to have little backbone when it comes to employers who intimidate him into doing their bidding.
