Gene Lavanchy

Gene P. Lavanchy (born September 17, 1964), American radio personality, is the current co-host of WFXT Boston's "Morning Show". Lavanchy was born and raised in Boston, and came onto the news scene in 1993 with WHDH, which is also in Boston. At WHDH, he became their leading sports director and their sports anchor in 1994. As time progressed, he also hosted WHDH's "Sports Xtra" Sunday Late Night sports program, where he would interview and discuss current topics with many local New England sports stars. After leaving WHDH, Gene arrived to WFXT in August of 2003. Lavanchy and co-host Kim Carrigan (who also defected from WHDH) lead what is now Boston's most popular morning news show.

He and his wife Anne-Marie have three children.On December 17, 2007, Lavanchy featured this page on Fox25's Morning News in a segment about finding yourself on the Internet.

Prior work, awards, and education

Previously, Lavanchy was a sports anchor at WLNE-TV in Providence, Rhode Island, and a sports anchor at WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, Florida. He was also host of WSBK-TV's Boston Bruins telecasts. Lavanchy won the UPI award for overall sports coverage in 1988, and was also the recipient of the 1991 AP award for best sports feature.
