Newspaper reporter, Amy Allen sets out to prove The A-Team - an elite US Special Forces commando unit from the Vietnam War convicted of a crime they did not commit - really exist and are working on the side of the law as mercenaries. She ends up hiring them to rescue one of her fellow reporters who has been kidnapped by Mexican outlaws. The A-Team — Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith, Lt. Templeton "The Faceman" Peck ("Face"), and Sgt. Bosco "B.A." Baracus — travel to Mexico in a plane piloted by their fearless but clinically insane pilot, Capt. H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock. Part 2 of the pilot episode in which the A-Team have been captured by a group of guerillas and the gang leader they were sent to fight. In the final battle they are assisted by the villagers and with their help, the A-Team is able to overthrow the guerillas, save the reporter and make their way home. Once home, Amy Allen blackmails her way onto the team.

The A-Team is hired to rescue a wealthy man's daughter from a religious cult. The rescue is successful, but the team is caught by the cult. Murdock has to return to rescue the rest of the team. They hide out at a nearby farm. The military police come to arrest the A-Team and instead arrest the religious cult.

B.A.'s friend Jase is sent to a prison, where he must fight in death matches for the amusement of the warden and several high-profile gamblers. Jase is able to escape but is captured again in front of B.A., who enlists the other members of the A-Team to help out Jase.

B.A. Baracus ends up with a .50 calibre gunshot wound in the leg, and the A-Team must stop off at a small town to get him a blood transfusion. Meanwhile, the military police is on the way to the team's location.

The A-Team is coming back to the USA after a job in Nicaragua in a Lockheed L-10 Electra airplane "borrowed" and piloted by Murdock (with B.A. conveniently sedated) when after an engine failure they are forced to an emergency landing in the backwoods of South Carolina. There, they come across a group of men trying to burn another man at the stake. Saving the man, they must then defend their position by the plane and hope to make their way home.

The A-Team are called in to protect a small-time farmer in delivering his produce to the market. They have to fight the clock as the produce slowly starts to rot.

The Military Police finally capture the A-Team but Lynch doesn't get much of a chance to gloat about it when a high ranking state department official steps in and coerces the Team into a covert operation to rescue the team's former commanding officer, General Ludlum who, along with his daughter, has been captured by a power hungry dictator in Borneo. B.A is especially reluctant to go as the officer court-martialed him in Vietnam, for which B.A broke his nose.

The A-Team are called in to rescue a hijacked 747. In doing so, B.A. must overcome his fear of flying in order to rescue Hannibal and Face (in disguise), who willingly give themselves up to the hijackers in exchange for the hostages. When Murdock is blinded after a gun goes off close to his face by one of the hijackers, Hannibal must fly a plane for the first time.

The A-Team find themselves in a small town, paying respects to a fallen comrade from the Vietnam War. While there, they discover a trio of brothers rules the town with intimidation, even so much as to warn the townspeople to stay away from the funeral. The A-Team then seek to avenge his murder and bring his killers to justice.

When the A-Team come across an old Vietnamese cook that they recognize as the man that helped them survive captivity in a POW camp during the war, they must help him against the camp’s brutal commander who now seeks revenge for their escape. They also discover that a US traitor in the POW camp is now the general's partner in a heroin smuggling operation.

Face receives his old fraternity pin in the mail, to him a sign that an old girlfriend of his is in trouble. Unable to convince the others to help him, Face must hire the A-Team to track the woman down to Ecuador, where she has become a nun. His fears turn out to be justified when they learn she and the rest of the convent are being held prisoner by a group of wanted bandits.

A young girl appears at B.A.'s youth center and he discovers that she has escaped from a group of people smugglers who are holding her ill mother and others captive before transporting them into America as slave labor in a clothing sweatshop. The A-Team go to the rescue, but when Hannibal goes undercover and is captured, the others must race to save both him and the girl’s mother.

A new Military Police pursuer is introduced in the form of Col. Roderick Decker, and he will stop at nothing to apprehend the A-Team. Meanwhile, the team is hired by a native American from the Midwest to protect a herd of wild mustangs from being slaughtered.

Hotly pursued by Decker, the team seek medical help for B.A. in the hospital of a fishing town. While there they meet a family who tell them of a man extorting the fishermen of the town and causing depletion of the lobster beds. The team decide to help the town out, but need to go to great lengths to avoid the clutches of Decker.

Three partially disabled Vietnam War veterans attempt to establish a hotel in a small desert town. Their property impacts access to a water bore for a wealthy local rancher who tries to run them out of town. The trio tell Murdock of their plight at the VA Hospital, and the A-Team volunteer their services to come to their aid.

The A-Team are hired by a construction company who become involved in a turf battle with a larger opposition company over the demolition of an old high-rise building. Things become far more serious when they realise the opposition are backed by a big-time mobster who buried his partner in the foundations years before.

A journalist friend of Amy tells her of a corrupt sheriff in his small hometown who has threatened him about reporting on the town's problems. The A-Team agree to intervene and Face poses as a returning local war hero in order to run for sheriff in an upcoming election. Things get more complex when Decker sees Face's photograph on the wire and comes in pursuit. This was the last appearance of Amy.

A Chinese tong looking to expand their business in LA try to raise money by running a protection racket on local businesses. One of their targets is a Vietnamese friend of The A-Team, whose restaurant the team part own. The A-Team step into help, but along the way must deal with the tong targeting their friend's family and a brush with the LAPD.

When a courier pilot crash lands in Venezuela he is found to be smuggling cocaine and is imprisoned. Convinced of his innocence, his family hire The A-Team to seek out those behind the operation both in the US and South America. The team must deal with both the Federales and the international drug lord behind the operation in their investigations.

A reporter friend of Amy, Tawnia Baker, moonlights as a clerk in a major security firm and discovers that Decker is about to pounce on The A-Team. She comes to warn them, but in the process some corrupt heads in the company suspect she has stumbled on their plans to murder one of their clients, a major oil-sheikh, and come in pursuit of her. The team inadvertently take on the job of saving both Baker and the sheikh.

The A-Team are hired by a servicewoman whose brother has been killed by a corrupt officer selling army weapons on the black market. When some elderly patrons of a small time casino just over the Nevada border are robbed by bandits as they return to Los Angeles, they hire The A-Team to track the offenders down. The team discover that the bandits intend to murder their now imprisoned former leader while en route to LA to testify against them, and intervene to attempt to prevent the hit and capture the bandits.

When an acquaintance of B.A.'s working as a parking valet is accused of being involved in a car theft racket, The A-Team step in to help break it up. However B.A.'s van is inadvertently stolen as part of the operation, so the race is on to get to the bottom of the racket and recover the van before it is cut up for spare parts.

The A-Team are hired by a wealthy businessman to rescue his daughter who has been kidnapped by a group of terrorists who are now demanding a large ransom. Hannibal assures the team that the job will be "a piece of cake", but things turn out harder than they look when they find that the girl is reluctant to be saved because her boyfriend is one of the kidnappers, and her father only wants her saved to maintain his public appearance.

Concerned that the team's work has been becoming sloppy, Hannibal leads them on a series of training manoeuvres. However a collection of wealthy individuals that have suffered as a result of The A-Team's interference hire four highly skilled mercenaries in order to take The A-Team out in retribution, and they strike whilst the team is off guard.

A pacifist religious community is intimidated by a group of small town bullies who want to run them off their land, an experience they have faced elsewhere. Tired of running, one of the community seeks the help of The A-Team. In contrast to their usual methods, The A-Team must try to deal with the thugs while adhering to the non-violent beliefs of the community.

Continuing from the last episode, the A-Team have to find a way to locate the pirates, bringing them into unknown territory. Locating the pirates, they come across a plot that is far greater than any of them could've expected. The A-Team must ally themselves with the shady El Cajon's forces to defeat the threat. This is the last appearance of Tawnia Baker, who weds her fiancé at the end of the episode.

A female fire chief calls in the help of the A-Team to help defend her department from a competing fire fighting department. Meanwhile, Col. Decker is replaced by Col. Briggs, who opens his hunt on the A-Team. However, after this episode, Col. Decker makes his reappearance, with no explanation as to the disappearance of Briggs.

Trivia: The alert tones in the first minute of the show, as well as the siren used by the fire truck, come from another NBC show, Emergency! (1972)

A team of crooks hired by a sleazy rock promoter impersonates the A-Team and tries to force Captain Winnetka's Wild West Show out of business. The A-Team must save the Wild West Show while trying to evade their old nemesis Colonel Lynch, who has been given one final chance to capture the A-Team and is determined to succeed at all costs.

What they will find is an operation bigger than they previously imagined. The team needs more help than they realised.

General Fulbright—who has been chasing the team—comes to them for help. He wants the team to find and free a group of Vietnam POWs, that supposedly includes the only officer that can clear their names. During the job Fulbright finds out that Murdock is part of the A-Team, but during their narrow escape under fire Fulbright is killed by Vietnamese troops before telling anyone else.

The episode guest-stars Tia Carrere as Fulbright's heretofore unknown half-Vietnamese daughter.

Hannibal is kidnapped by retired General Hunt Stockwell, who offers him the choice between going to jail or the A-Team performing a mission for him. They are to free a group of hostages from a hijacked plane in Spain. As an extra incentive, Stockwell reveals that former ally Josh Curtis is on the plane, and he might have information that could clear the A-Team's names. Instead, after being freed, Curtis betrays the team and falsely tells Stockwell he saw the A-Team kill Colonel Morrison and burn their headquarters to cover the crime.

The court martial of the A-Team is under way, featuring witnesses (among them Col. Roderick Decker) and a recounting of the team's "crime they didn't commit". Curtis is exposed as a liar, but before the truth comes out fully he is killed by his gunrunner partners. Fearful that Murdock will be blamed Hannibal, BA and Face shock the court by pleading guilty during the hearings. Meanwhile, Murdock, together with new cast addition Frankie Santana (Eddie Velez) seek to prove the team's innocence.

Time is running out for the team as their execution is impending. Murdock and Frankie desperately seek Stockwell's help in helping the team escape but are rebuffed. Eventually, through clever manipulation of Stockwell, the team escape their execution and are coerced into joining Stockwell's agency, whereupon they will perform covert high-risk missions for him in exchange for a presidential pardon.

In a special episode of which the ending was voted on by viewers, the A-Team must help a former political advisor to reunite with his lost daughter in exchange for a diary with large political ramifications. Unbeknownst to Face, the advisor claims to be his father, a fact Murdock learns of during the course of the episode, causing a dilemma for Murdock on whether or not he should tell his friend.

The A-Team travel to Hong Kong after Hannibal goes missing in action during a solo mission. With the assistance of Stockwell, they hope to A) complete Hannibal's mission in time and B) find and save Hannibal himself.

The A-Team are called in to retrieve a briefcase housing various faked government secrets, meant to be given to the Soviets. During their mission they come across a group of retired elderly men and women, to whom the episode's title refers.

Face becomes critically injured when a group of mobsters take over the restaurant Murdock works at. Together with Frankie, the three are taken hostage and it is up to Hannibal and B.A. to rescue them in time to save Face's life.
