Philippson is a patronymic surname meaning "son of Philipp", the German language given name variant of "Philip", both derived from "philippos", of Ancient Greek origin (prefix "philein", meaning "to love"; suffix "hippos", meaning "horses"; combined, becoming "lover of horses").
