Future CPU Port

Future CPU Port

Future CPU Port is a slot on select Asrock motherboards that allows a user to install a CPU with a different pin configuration than that natively supported by the motherboard. The benefit is that a wider range of CPUs can be supported, and there is scope for the support of newer chips which may have a different pin configuration to that of the motherboard in question. Asrock offers a CPU socket adapter to allow AMD Socket 939 boards to run the new AMD Socket AM2 processors. The FX-62 is one of the first offerings for the AM2 socket, its 939 predecessor being the FX-60 and the rest of the FX series.
