Lake Sylvia State Park

Lake Sylvia State Park

Lake Sylvia State Park borders along the north edge of Montesano, Washington. The park is located in dense boreal forest, a temperate rain forest by some definitions.

The park offers swimming, hiking, camping, fishing, and boating, and was built around an old lumber mill pond, which was used to power the town's first elecrical generation plant for a few years.

The park is home to a mixed flock of feral and wild mallard ducks and Canadian geese, and a family of ospreys. The municipal watershed of Montesano lies adjacent to the upper reaches of the lake. The city watershed is managed very similarly to a National Forest, and serves as a safe corridor for wildlife to enter and leave the park.
