Islam , a rasul (Arabic: رسول, "messenger," plural "rusul") is a Prophet sent by God with aShariah ("Divine Law") (for more info see Distinction between Prophets and Messengers). According to theQur'an , God has sent many prophets ("anbiyaa", sing. "nabi") to mankind. Twenty-five are mentioned by name in the Qur'an (seeProphets of Islam ), but according to the hadiths of the prophet Muhammad, there have been over124,000 prophets in total sent to all portions of the Earth to preach and spread the message ofIslam . accessdate = 2007-01-03 ] But it is also mentioned in the Quran that God has sent many revelations [aside from the twelve mentioned in the Qur'an] .The Greek: aγγελος, angel meaning "messenger" has the meaning of a supernatural being. Islam does not consider "messengers" to be supernatural beings. The Arabic word for angelic supernatural beings is Malā’ikah (ملائكة).
