The galjoen fishes are a small family, Dichistiidae, of perciform fishes. There are just two species in the family in the single genus Dichistius:

• The galjoen, Dichistius capensis (Cuvier, 1831), is a shallow-water reef-associated fish found in coastal waters of the south-east Atlantic Ocean and off South Africa. It reaches 80 cm in length.
• The banded galjoen, Dichistius multifasciatus (Pellegrin, 1914), is a deep-water marine fish found in the western Indian Ocean and off South Africa. It grows to 35 cm long.

Both species make good eating and are popular commercial and game fishes.
