The Field (Well of Echoes)

The Field (Well of Echoes)

The Field is the source of a mancers power in Ian Irvine's The Well of Echoes quartet. The field is generated by naturally occurring nodes and is one of many forces nodes generate, however it is the weakest.

Torgnadrs or node-drainers created by the lyrinx are capable of draining a node of the field, though it releases that power into the node-draining chamber it is located in. Such a place does not adhere to the laws of physics or reality.

Ryll the lyrinx creates a Flisnadr or power patterner, on the advice of Matriarch Gyrull, that drains a node of the field as a Torgnadr does, but doesn't release it uselessly. The user of a Flisnadr can direct the power as he chooses.
