"Wales Tonight" is the flagship news programme in the ITV Wales region. Formerly known as "HTV News" and "ITV Wales News", it broadcasts at 6pm every weeknight. Like all ITV plc regional news programmes, it uses the generic ITV font and idents.

All news bulletins are broadcast live from ITV Wales' studios at Culverhouse Cross on the Western outskirts of Cardiff. ITV Wales also has regional newsrooms in Colwyn Bay, Newtown and Carmarthen, along with a political unit at the National Assembly of Wales in Cardiff Bay. Weather forecasts are produced from Cardiff on most weekdays and from ITV Central's Gas Street studios in Birmingham at weekends.

On Air

"ITV Wales News" airs on ITV Wales seven days a week. "Wales Tonight" airs on weekdays only.

ITV Wales News

On weekdays, three short bulletins are broadcast during GMTV at 6:35am, 7:10am and 8:10am. The 7-minute mid-morning bulletin airs at 11:10am, immediately after an ITV News Summary, during "This Morning". The lunchtime bulletin follows on from the "ITV Lunchtime News", giving a six minute round-up of the days developments from 1:55pm.

"Wales News" also airs four bulletins at weekends: two on Saturday, at lunchtime, and late afternoon, and two on Sunday: at lunchtime and early evening, usually at 6:25pm.

Wales Tonight

The main evening edition of "Wales Tonight" begins at 6.00pm, and ends at 6.30pm. The late edition of "Wales Tonight" broadcasts after "News at Ten", airing between 10.30pm and 10.45pm, Mondays to Thursdays, and between 11.30pm and 11.45pm on Fridays, after "The Late News".
