- Siaya District
Siaya District is one of the twelve districts that make up
Nyanza Province in the southwest part ofKenya . It is bordered byBusia District to the North, Vihiga andButere/Mumias District s to the North-East,Bondo District to the South, andKisumu District to the South-East. The total area of the district is approximately 1520 km². The District lies between latitude 0° 26’ to 0° 18’ north and longitude 33° 58’ east and 34° 33’ west.The projected population in the year 2002 showed 493,326 people in Siaya District, with 226,682 males and 266,644 females.
The district has three constituencies:
*Alego Constituency
*Gem Constituency
*Ugenya Constituency At the 2007 parliamentary elections all three seats were won by
Orange Democratic Movement .See also
