Leila Waddell

Leila Waddell (1880–1932), a daughter of Irish immigrants to Australia, a famed Scarlet Woman of Aleister Crowley, and a powerful historical figure in magick and Thelema in her own right. Immortalized in "The Book of Lies" and the "Confessions" and familiarly addressed by Crowley as Laylah, she was an accomplished writer, magician, and musician. She was founding member of the original company of the Rites of Eleusis. She was also, arguably, Crowley's most powerful muse, inspiring numerous poems.
