Rosie the Robot Maid

Rosie the Robot Maid

Rosie the Robot Maid is a humanoid robot fictional character in "The Jetsons" animated television series. She was the title family's maid and housekeeper. Jean Vander Pyl provided the voice for Rosie. Rosie was depicted as wearing a frilly apron, and was often seen using a separate vacuum cleaner. She frequently called George Jetson "Mr. J".

In 2006, Rosie appeared in an AT&T TV commercial, as she was a part of a brief history of robots that dated back in 1939.

Rosie was an old demonstrator model hired by the Jetson family from U-RENT A MAID. In the episode "Mother's Day for Rosie", her model number is revealed as XB-500.

In episode twelve, Rosie compares her window spray to radio-active mist. It is the first time she makes reference to the future.

Rosie is modelled after Hazel from the TV show, Hazel, a sitcom featuring Shirley Booth as a similar maid character. Just as Rosie calls George Jetson "Mr. J" so too Hazel called her boss, Mr. Baxter, "Mr. B".

In the episode "Rosie's Boyfriend," it is found that Rosie has a boyfriend, which is a helper for Henry Orbit named Mac. When Rosie finds out Henry de-activated Mac, she goes crazy.
