In human anatomy, the forehead or brow is the bony part of the head above the eyes.

Cultural Aspects

A popular stereotype is that having a large forehead signifies a high level of intelligence. Certain hairstyles, such as fringe or bangs hide a portion of the forehead.

Pronunciation

Historically, the word has rhymed with "horrid" RP: IPA| [ˈfɒɹɪd] , GenAm: IPA| [ˈfɔɹɪd] , but the spelling pronunciation RP: IPA| [ˈfɔːhɛd] , GenAm: IPA| [ˈfɔɹhɛd] has become more common in recent years.

Other Uses

The name 'Forehead' is also a popular nickname for fictional character Cassie Turner, played by Sharni Vinson, in the Australian soap opera Home and Away.
