Lofer is a market town in the Pinzgau region of Salzburg (state) in Austria. It is located at an elevation of 626 m above sea level, in the valley of the Saalach river. As of 2001, Lofer had a population of 1,943. Although the valley’s smallest community in terms of area (just 55 km²), its population of 2,000 actually makes it the most “heavily” populated of the Saalach Valley’s four towns.

European route E641, which connects Wörgl with Salzburg, passes through Lofer.

The local businesses are agriculture and tourism. Lofer atracts many family oriented ski parties. The season is late December-early March. 50km away is the large resort of Kitzbuhel.
