Hope ( _cy. Yr Hob) is a small village in Flintshire, north-east Wales. The village is located approximately 4.5 km from the Wales/England border, on the course of the River Alyn. Hope belongs to a small group of closely related villages in its local area, including Caergwrle, Abermorddu and Cefn-y-bedd. One of the major features in the area is Hope Mountain ("Mynydd yr Hob"), to the west of the village, along with the extensive farmland of Shordley. At the 2001 Census, the population was 2,522.citeweb|url=http://neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/dissemination/LeadKeyFigures.do?a=3&b=6076676&c=hope&d=14&e=16&g=414634&i=1001x1003x1004&m=0&r=1&s=1215015909821&enc=1|title=2001 Census: Hope (Ward)|work=Office for National Statistics|accessdate=2 July|accessyear=2008]

In 2007, the secondary school [http://www.castellalun.flintshire.sch.uk Castell Alun High] , which is located in the village, became the first and only school in North Wales to be awarded seven Grade 1s by Estyn, the school inspection service for Wales. The judgment makes Castell Alun one of the top schools in Wales.

Hope has good transportation links with local towns and cities, notably Wrexham, Chester and Mold, with the Borderlands Line running directly through Hope railway station giving access to Liverpool via the Wirral Peninsula.

Hope's County Councillor Tim Newhouse is the only Australian on Flintshire Council, having arrived from Melbourne in 2006 at the age of 38.Fact|date=July 2008 Hope has a library, a sports centre and a football, cricket and rugby club.
