Adweek

"Adweek" is a weekly American advertising trade publication that was first published in 1978. "Adweek" covers creativity, client/agency relationships, global advertising, accounts in review, and new campaigns. During this time, it has covered several notable shifts, including cable television, the shift away from commission-based agency fees, and the Internet.

"Adweek" publishes a blog, Adfreak, which covers the intersection of advertising and pop culture. "Adweek" is currently owned by VNU, a Dutch publishing and research conglomerate controlled by a consortium of private-equity firms.

History

In 1990, Affiliated Publications Inc., the parent of the company that publishes The Boston Globe, agreed to acquire 80 percent of the outstanding common stock of A/S/M Communications Inc., which published "Adweek".
