Royce Spencer Clayton (born January 2, 1970 in Burbank, California) is a former Major League Baseball shortstop. He was drafted in the first round (15th pick overall) of the by|1988 amateur draft by the San Francisco Giants, and made his major league debut for the Giants on September 9, by|1991. In by|1997, he was selected to represent the St. Louis Cardinals at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. In the 2002 film "The Rookie", Clayton is played by Jorge Sanchez in a brief appearance. The 1999 time frame portrayed in the film shows Clayton playing for the Texas Rangers.

On November 29, by|2006, Clayton agreed to a one-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. [http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/article.jsp?content=20061129_180113_5712Dead link|date=May 2008] . On August 7, by|2007, the Blue Jays released him.

On August 23, 2007, Clayton agreed to a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox, and was assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket.

On September 1, 2007, Clayton was called up to Boston Red Sox when Major League rosters can expand to 40 players.
