Man-Ching Donald Yu

Yu Man Ching (b. 1980)[1](Chinese: 余文正) is a contemporary classical composer.[2] His music is described by Fanfare Magazine as “forming an arresting and personal intermixing of tonal and atonal languages, with the musical colours and gestures of his native country infiltrating the mix.”

Life and Career

Born in Hong Kong, he earned his B.Mus. degree in piano performance from Baylor University (U.S.), later he received a Ph.D. in composition and music theory at Hong Kong Baptist University; additionally, he holds a Fellowship in Music Composition from Trinity College London (U.K.).[4]As a prolific composer, his two hundred works in different genres range from chamber to large-scale symphonic works. His music has been commissioned and performed by various orchestras, choruses, and ensembles in more than 20 countries with 50 cities at various international festivals and venues throughout the North and South America, Europe, and Asia. [5] His music has been published by Edizioni Sconfinarte (Italy), BabelScores (France), and Da Vinci Editions (Italy) as well as released by Phasma Music, Ablaze, Albany Records and many others.
