- Aurelie Dupont
Aurélie Dupont (born
January 15 1973 inParis ) is a Frenchballet dancer who performs with theParis Opera Ballet as anEtoile . She began her career in dance at the age of ten when she entered the Paris Opera Ballet School ("L’Ecole de Danse de l’Opéra de Paris") after giving up her hopes of being a pianist. She joined the company in 1989, and became a "premiere danseuse" in December 1996. Dupont was nominated to Etoile in 1998 after her performance as Kitri in Nureyev's production of Don Quixote. The darling and undisputed grand dame of the French ballet stage, Dupont is nonetheless outspoken about the deficiencies of the Paris Opera Ballet school system. She is one of the finest actresses currently working in ballet, inhabiting her roles with delicately nuanced and heartfelt expression in her eyes, mouth and face. Her port-de-bras is extremely natural, soft and light, while her highly refined technique is in complete service to her artistry.
In March of 2002 she danced with
Andrian Fadeyev in the Kirov Ballet's production of Romeo and Juliet.Repertoire
