Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues Institute of Technology (FCRIT) is a private, non-autonomous institute of engineering located in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. It is also popularly known as Father Agnels Engineering College.

It is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and has been classified as a grade 'A' institute by the Government of Maharashtra. It is also recognised by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). The institute has received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation, Delhi (NBA - [http://www.nba-aicte.ernet.in/] ) for a period of 3 years (2006-2009).

History

FCRIT was established in 1994 and is part of the Agnel Technical Education complex which houses a B school, a polytechnic, and an industrial training institute.FCRIT has a sister organisation Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering in Bandra which was established in 1984. Both institutes are a result of a foray into education by a group of Catholic priests who set up the Agnel Ashram in Bandra in 1957. Over the years the institutes run by the Agnel Ashram have been seen to be above religious, communal and social differences and are headed by well educated academics. They are renowned for their strict moral values and discipline.

Campus

FCRIT has a 4 storeyed degree building which is part of the academic block. The academic block houses the lecture rooms, faculty centres and most laboratories. A two storeyed computerised library is located at the centre of the academic block. The campus also has a workshop and industrial training centre at a few minutes walk from the academic block. Other facilities include a cafetaria, football ground, basketball court, gymnasium, medical centre and twin 7 storeyed hostel buildings.

An auditorium with a capacity of 2500 and an indoor sports facility (Maithreyi Hall) is proposed to come up opposite the academic block but is yet to be built.

Faculty

The institute also provides an opportunity to meritorious members of the faculty to complete Masters and Doctorate degrees. Certain members of the faculty are involved in research projects as well and have published papers in international journals.

Admissions

Placements

The placement process starts in the month of June/July every year and spans more than year for a batch of students. Students who have completed three years of their undergraduate programme are permitted to register for the campus recruitment process. The institute claims to have a nearly 100% conversion ratio of eligible students and company offers. The placement activities are looked after by faculty placement officers and student coordinators. The central placement cell is located in the administrative block due south of the reception.

Extra Curricular Events

FCRIT holds an annual inter college festival in the even semester called 'η-Max CRITeria'. A 3 day event modelled along the lines of festivals held by various famous colleges, η-Max comprises a series of technical and non technical workshops, designed to enhance students' understanding of practical concepts in Engineering. Over the last 3 years, the annual event has transformed itself to include seminars by noted personalities, competitions and cultural activities.

FCRIT also has an intra college cultural and sports festival called 'FACES' held in the odd semesters.
