Van Riper State Park

Van Riper State Park is a convert|1350|acre|km2|sing=on park located in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan, convert|17|mi|km west of Ishpeming on US-41. The park has about 1.5 mile of frontage along the eastern shores of Lake Michigamme, and convert|1.5|mi|km of frontage along the shores of the Peshekee River. The park itself is under strict watch by Wildlife management after several violations of United States environmental law. History

This park is named after Dr. Paul Van Riper, who practiced medicine in the area for most of his 91 years, and was involved in the local politics of the region.
